20 year old dating 16 year old legal
Last night we were talking and she mentioned it was her birthday. Heck, when I was in High School I had next to nothing in common with them.
I knew she was still in high school but I figured she was either 18 or close to it, but then she said she was just turning 17. I've never dated a girl younger than me even, but I really do like this girl. She's almost 3 years younger than me but she's not a little kid or anything either.
(Don't laugh) What does PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS mean? Will you marry a blind if a blind girl/boy loves you.?
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Indiana My name is Jesse, and I'm a 19 year old girl (20 in Jan. But, his mom and step dad think I'm too old for him, and that we'll get in trouble with the law because "things happen" (their words, not mine, I have more confidence in my morals).
But after checking a website, I realize that there are many, many rules and agelimits for a whole host of activity; from talking a certain age person into going for a ride with you, your intentions, whether sexual in nature or not.
To get full idea ofthe laws in your state, please go to click on Age of Consent Laws by State. I would recommend all young people who are dating to check it out.
Since the person is over 16, if the parents do not prohibit it, they can date and be in each other's company.
Even if they have consensual intercourse, he can not be charged with anything under WV law..
Since she is over 16, there is no crime if it is consensual...thanks Barrister ..If he was forty and you were ten it would be legal (but that is horrible Im not condoning that! If you two do have sex he will be done for statory rape and im sure you dont want that for boyfriend so just dont be tempted and you two will be fine :) It is not illegal to date. Here, if one of the people is 18 or older and the other is at least 4 years younger, it is illegal to have sex.If anyone finds out, the older person could be charged with rape - not be careful :) It is not illegal to go out regularly with someone, which is what dating is, regardless of the age difference. We have done nothing that could be considered even remotely sexual, and don't plan to unless we're married. They say that the age of consent being 16 only applies to children who's parents sign for emancipation, which they absolutely will not do. Age of consent and emancipation are completely unrelated.
So, I decided to post my problem here, and hope someone might be able to point out any laws there may be against dating, and if there are none, at least offer advice. That said, if they don't want you seeing him, they CAN (and sounds like they WILL) make your life - AND HIS - extremely miserable.
